State law requires school attendance between the ages of 6 and 18. A child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1 to enter kindergarten...see below for PreK Information.
To enter first grade a child must be 6 years of age on or before September 1.
Students enrolling in Sidney ISD must provide the following documents:
1. Birth certificate
2. Social Security card
3. Proof of parent income (for Pre-Kindergarten students only)
4. Transcript from previous school
5. Immunization record including DPT, poliomyelitis, varicella, hepatitis A & B, and measles-mumps-rubella. (A TB test is required if students are entering from outside the United States). Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Program
To qualify for Pre-Kindergarten, the child must:
- Turn four years old on or before September 1
and meet one of the following criteria:
- Limited English Proficiency. Students qualifying as limited English proficient will be tested on the day of registration to determine placement in the program
- Economically Disadvantaged. Students qualifying as economically disadvantaged must meet the federal income eligibility guidelines
- Homeless
- The child of a parent in the military or injured or killed while actively serving in the military. Appropriate Department of Defense identification or documentation must be provided
- In or have been in the conservatorship of the state of Texas. Appropriate documentation from the Department of Family and Protective Services must be provided
- The child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award, as a peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical first responder
